McCartney Family Funerals

It's a Family Thing

Make a Difference When It Matters Most

At McCartney Family Funerals, being a Funeral Director is about much more than organising a funeral.

It is about being the person a family can rely on when their world has changed.

We are seeking an experienced Funeral Director to join our team, based at our Beenleigh office, supporting families throughout Logan, the southern Brisbane region and surrounding communities.

This is a hands-on Arranger/Conductor position for someone who can confidently guide a family from their first arrangement meeting through to the funeral service itself — providing continuity, reassurance and exceptional care throughout the entire journey.

About McCartney Family Funerals

We are a family-owned and operated funeral company built around five values: Care, Compassion, Community, Support and Family.

These aren’t simply words on a wall. They influence how we care for families, how we work with one another and the standard we expect from everyone who represents our business.

We believe funerals should be personal, meaningful and reflective of the individual being remembered. Our Funeral Directors are given the opportunity to genuinely listen to families, understand what matters to them and help create a farewell that feels right.

The Role

As a Funeral Director, you will take responsibility for coordinating and overseeing funeral arrangements and services while providing professional and compassionate support to grieving families.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting with families to arrange funerals, cremations and burials
  • Guiding families through service options and personalisation choices
  • Preparing and coordinating funeral arrangements from beginning to end
  • Conducting funeral services with confidence, dignity and professionalism
  • Coordinating cemeteries, crematoriums, celebrants, clergy, venues and other service providers
  • Ensuring coffins, flowers, stationery, vehicles and other service requirements are organised correctly
  • Preparing and managing required funeral documentation
  • Maintaining accurate case information and records
  • Supporting families with pricing and funeral service options
  • Identifying and resolving issues before they affect a family or service
  • Building strong relationships with families, community members and external stakeholders
  • Working collaboratively with our Funeral Operations, Mortuary and broader team
  • Participating in on-call and after-hours requirements as required

Every funeral is different, and circumstances can change quickly. You will need to remain organised, composed and solutions-focused while ensuring the family continues to feel supported.

About You

We are looking for someone who already understands funeral service and the responsibility that comes with being entrusted to care for a grieving family.

You will ideally bring:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a comparable funeral industry role
  • Experience arranging and conducting funeral services
  • Strong knowledge of funeral practices, processes and documentation
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Genuine compassion and emotional intelligence
  • Confidence communicating with families experiencing grief and distress
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple funerals and competing priorities
  • Sound judgement and the ability to solve problems under pressure
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • A collaborative and team-focused approach
  • High standards of professionalism, confidentiality and integrity
  • Flexibility to work outside traditional business hours when required
  • An open driver’s licence

Formal funeral industry qualifications and Justice of the Peace qualifications are highly regarded.

What Makes a Great Funeral Director at McCartney’s?

Our strongest Funeral Directors understand that families may remember very little about the administrative process, but they will remember how we made them feel.

You need to be able to listen carefully, notice what isn’t being said and adapt your approach to the individual family in front of you.

You also need the confidence to lead.

Families are often making unfamiliar decisions while experiencing grief. A great Funeral Director doesn’t simply present options — they provide guidance, create clarity and give families confidence that everything is being taken care of.

Behind the scenes, that requires exceptional organisation, teamwork and attention to detail.

Why Join McCartney Family Funerals?

You’ll join a family-owned business where funeral service remains personal.

You’ll work alongside experienced Funeral Directors, Funeral Operations and Mortuary professionals who understand that delivering an exceptional funeral requires the entire team working together.

Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to do work that has genuine meaning.

There aren’t many careers where the quality of your work can have such a lasting impact on another person.

If you’re an experienced funeral professional who believes families deserve exceptional care, we’d like to hear from you.
