McCartney Family Funerals

It's a Family Thing

Create Content That Actually Means Something

We’re looking for a creative, digitally obsessed Digital Content Specialist to join McCartney Family Funerals at our Underwood Operations Centre.

This is not a role where you’ll spend your days making minor changes to corporate templates.

We want someone who understands social media because they genuinely consume it. Someone who notices trends before they become tired, knows what makes people stop scrolling, can turn an idea into great content, and understands that strong creative needs to ultimately deliver a result.

You’ll work closely with our Managing Director and wider team to take ownership of our day-to-day digital presence — creating content, managing our social channels, supporting advertising campaigns, maintaining our websites and helping us find new ways to connect with families and our community.

And while we work in the funeral industry, we don’t believe our content needs to be sombre or predictable. It needs to be human, authentic, relevant and unmistakably McCartney’s.

What You’ll Be Doing

Social Media & Content

You’ll help own our presence across Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Google Business Profile and emerging social platforms, including:

  • Developing and managing social media content calendars.
  • Creating, scheduling and publishing engaging organic content.
  • Producing short-form video, photography, graphics and written content.
  • Filming and editing Reels, TikToks, Shorts and other video content.
  • Identifying relevant trends and developing ideas appropriate for our brands.
  • Monitoring engagement and helping grow our audiences.
  • Reviewing performance to understand what works — and what doesn’t.
  • Capturing content across our locations, community activities and events.

Photography, Video & Podcasting

You’ll be comfortable moving between concept and production.

This may include:

  • Planning and conducting photography and video shoots.
  • Shooting and editing content for digital campaigns and social media.
  • Planning, recording and producing podcast content.
  • Developing concepts, scripts and storyboards.
  • Editing audio and video into polished finished content.
  • Managing our digital content library.

Graphic Design

You’ll create high-quality visual content across digital and traditional channels, including:

  • Social media creative.
  • Digital advertising.
  • Campaign collateral.
  • Brochures, flyers and promotional material.
  • Community and event collateral.
  • Website graphics and other branded assets.

Strong competency with Adobe Creative Suite is important, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and relevant video-editing applications.

Websites & Digital Channels

You’ll help keep our digital presence accurate, current and engaging, including:

  • Updating and maintaining our WordPress websites.
  • Working within Elementor to create and update pages.
  • Publishing new content and landing pages.
  • Maintaining imagery, written content and other website assets.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the digital customer experience.

Marketing & Advertising

This isn’t purely a creative role.

You’ll work closely with the Managing Director to support marketing and growth initiatives, including:

  • Developing creative concepts for marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • Supporting campaign planning, implementation and analysis.
  • Coordinating newspaper, outdoor and other traditional advertising.
  • Working with external PPC and SEO consultants.
  • Producing campaign assets across multiple channels.
  • Reviewing campaign and content performance.
  • Using data and insights to continuously improve future creative.

Our existing media framework places particular emphasis on combining graphic design, digital content, multimedia production, brand management and marketing support rather than treating these as isolated functions.

Who We’re Looking For

You might currently be a Content Creator, Social Media Specialist, Digital Marketer, Graphic Designer or multidisciplinary creative.

The title matters less than what you can actually do.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has demonstrated experience managing social media professionally.
  • Is a voracious consumer of social media and understands how different platforms behave.
  • Can create great content rather than simply brief someone else to create it.
  • Has strong graphic design capabilities.
  • Is confident with photography and video production.
  • Can edit engaging short-form video.
  • Has strong skills across Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Understands branding and can work within an established visual identity.
  • Can write engaging, accurate digital content.
  • Understands the fundamentals of digital marketing and advertising.
  • Is comfortable working with WordPress and ideally Elementor.
  • Can manage multiple projects and deadlines without losing attention to detail.
  • Is creative, curious and willing to experiment.
  • Can look at performance data and use it to improve their work.
  • Is comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.

Most importantly, you need good judgement.

Funeral service requires creativity to coexist with sensitivity. You’ll need to understand when we can be playful, when we need to be restrained, and how to create interesting content without compromising the dignity of the families and communities we serve.

You’ll Probably Love This Role If…

You save content because you want to understand why it worked.

You have opinions about bad social media.

You can see an empty room, an ordinary moment or a conversation and immediately start thinking about how you could turn it into content.

You enjoy switching between Photoshop, a camera, Premiere, WordPress and your phone.

You want enough freedom to bring ideas to the table rather than simply executing somebody else’s content calendar.

And you want your creative work to contribute to something more meaningful than selling another disposable product.

Why McCartney Family Funerals?

McCartney Family Funerals is a family-owned and operated funeral company built around Care, Compassion, Community, Support and Family.

We operate in an industry where trust matters enormously.

That creates an interesting challenge for our Media team: we need to build brands that people recognise and remember long before they need us, communicate difficult subjects in accessible ways, tell meaningful stories and create content capable of standing out in an industry that often looks and sounds the same.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence how we do that.

You’ll work closely with decision-makers, have genuine ownership over your work and see your ideas move from concept to execution.

What We’d Like to See

Along with your application, we’d love to see examples of your work.

That could include:

  • Social media accounts you’ve managed.
  • Reels, TikToks or other video you’ve created.
  • Photography.
  • Graphic design.
  • Marketing campaigns.
  • Websites or landing pages.
  • Podcasts.
  • A portfolio or showreel.

We’re much more interested in seeing what you can create than receiving a perfectly formatted cover letter.

Ready to Create Something Different?

If you’re a multidisciplinary digital creative who can combine social media, content creation, photography, video, graphic design and marketing, we’d like to hear from you.

Send us your application, show us your work and tell us why you think you’d be a great addition to McCartney Family Funerals.
