Meet Bryan and our Team from Underwood.  Underwood is where all of our behind the scenes work takes place, this includes our Mortuary (managed by Tracy) and Funeral Operations (managed by Natalie), Online Services (managed by Jane). Our Underwood location is also a place where families are welcome to arrange a funeral or to visit with their Loved One in our beautifully appointed visitation (viewing) room.

Our Facilities 

Our Underwood office provides the necessary operational functions for our branches and includes our state-of-the-art Mortuary where Tracy cares for all of our families Loved Ones, a Visitation Room for unique and intimate viewings, Operations Team that support our Funeral Directors, welcoming and warm Reception area and ample parking for our families. Our Underwood Office is designed to be relaxed, comfortable and provide a serene and calm environment for our families to spend time with their Loved One, to make funeral arrangements and to feel at home during their visit.

Explore The Rich History of Underwood

Underwood is situated in the Yugarabul traditional Aboriginal country of the Brisbane and surrounding regions. Towards the south-east of Underwood towards Beenleigh is the Bundjalung traditional Aboriginal country. The origin of the suburb name is from William Underwood who was an early property owner in the area. William Underwood had established the Commercial Hotel, which operated from the early 1870s through to 1895 on land nearby Beenleigh Road. The suburb Underwood was gazetted in 1975 and was part of both Brisbane City Council and the former Shire of Albert before the creation of Logan City in the year 1978.

Managing Director
Bryan has been part of the Funeral Industry for the last 8 years initially as a Funeral Celebrant, then a Funeral Director, Mortician and now as the Managing Director of McCartney Family Funerals.  Bryan believes in creating an exceptional experience for all of our families and providing the highest levels of care to their Loved Ones.  Prior to joining the Funeral Industry, Bryan held senior executive roles in Education, Mining and Renewable Energy and has professional training in Psychology, Human Resources, Law and Celebrancy. “I believe that we are the guardians of our families Loved Ones and along with my Team, I take that responsibility seriously.  Each person that we assist has a different journey and a different expression of grief and loss, so for me, it is important that we connect on a deep level with our families and go above and beyond to support and care for them as best we can.  I’m a big believer in being Brave rather than being strong. We find strength in bravery when we permit ourselves to express our emotions without feeling the burden of “being strong”.  So for this moment, just be Brave.”
Tracy Dixon
Manager – Mortuary Services
Tracy has been a mortician for the last 8 years and has been our Mortuary Services Manager since we opened our operations centre in Underwood.  Tracy’s approach in the mortuary is personal, heartfelt and deeply sincere.  From her own experiences with grief and loss, she uses her passion to ensure that all of our families have an exceptional final experience with their loved one.  Tracy is one of the most compassionate and caring members of our team and everything she does, comes from a place of love, respect and dignity.
Natalie Miller
Manager – Funeral Operations
Natalie has been working in the funeral industry for 5 years, although her passion for the industry began when she was just a teenager. Natalie always knew this was what she wanted to do, so at the age of 16 she went and did her school work experience in the local funeral home. From then on that’s all she ever wanted to do. However, being so young she found it hard to get a job in the industry so began a 17 year career in retail and project management with the one company until the timing was right and to try again to start her dream job with a large corporate funeral home. Over time she realised she wanted to work for a family owned company and thus her career with McCartney’s began!
Natalie is the Manager responsible for ensuring that all funeral services are scheduled, resourced and that logistics are completed as quickly and efficiently as possible. Natalie uses her extensive knowledge, skill and experience to develop the Funeral Operations team to ensure cohesive and consistent support is provided to all of our Funeral Directors and Families.

Our Team are highly experienced and collectively have more than 35 years experience, meaning that they will provide you with the care, compassion and support you would expect from a professional and personable team.
